In a large bowl, use mixer to beat the sweetened condensed milk, pudding mix and milk. Fold in the sour cream. Cover pudding mixture and chill five (5) minutes.
Assemble and refrigerate at least two hours
Set aside 1/4 cup of the pudding mixture.
In a (2- to 2.5-quart) clear glass bowl, place half of the pound cake pieces on the bottom. Layer half of the remaining pudding over that followed by half of the raspberries and blueberries. Repeat layers.
Spoon reserved pudding mixture on top. Cover and chill Berry Patriotic Trifle at least two (2) hours, and up to six to eight (6 to 8) hours before serving.
Prepare garnish
If using optional star garnish, line a baking sheet with wax paper.
Place the white baking bar in a small, heavy saucepan over Low temperature. Heat until melted, stirring constantly. Then, tint with red paste food coloring.
Pipe mixture into star shapes on the prepared baking sheet. Let stand until dry.
Garnish and serve
Just before serving, carefully peel star shapes from the wax paper and place on top of the trifle in a decorative fashion.
Cover and refrigerate any unused portions.
