Eggnog Cake Frosting

Ann Byrn's Spiced Cream Cheese Frosting ingredients
Makes enough for 3-layer (9-inch) cake

4 Tbsp (1/2 stick) butter at room temperature
4-oz reduced fat cream cheese at room temperature
3.5 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
Heaping 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

In a medium bowl with an electric mixer on Low speed, beat the butter and cream cheese until well combined, about 30 seconds. Stop the machine and use rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Add the confectioners' sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon; beat with the mixer on Low speed  until the ingredients are well incorporated and the frosting has spreading consistency, about 1 to 2 minutes.

The Southern Heritage Cookbook Library Egg Nog Icing ingredients
Makes enough for one (3-layer) cake
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 egg yolks
6 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
1/4 cup bourbon

Reduce bourbon to 3 Tbsp and add 1 Tbsp rum.

In a medium bowl, combine butter and egg yolks; beat until smooth.

Gradually add confectioners' sugar, 2 cups at a time, alternating with bourbon; beat well after each addition.
