Death By Chocolate Trifle | Coffee Break with Liz & Kate

Death by Chocolate Trifle ingredients
Makes 6 - 8 servings
1 pkg chocolate cake mix
1 pkg instant chocolate pudding mix
1 2/3 cups milk (see Notes:)
3/4 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
1/8 cup Kahlúa (no more, or there will be too much liquid)
1 container frozen whipped topping, thawed in refrigerator
6 regular sized Heath bars (toffee/chocolate), frozen and crushed

Notes:  Whole or 2% milk works best.

Bake cake according to package directions in a 9- x13-inch pan. Let cool completely; crumble into chunks and divide evenly.

Meanwhile, prepare pudding according to package directions. Stir together coffee and Kahlua; set aside.

Into a glass trifle bowl, place half of each ingredient and spread to the edge in this order:

  • Cake pieces
  • Coffee mixture
  • Pudding
  • Whipped topping
  • Crushed candy bars

Repeat layers in the same order. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.
