German Baked Noodles | What's Cookin'?

Serve these German Baked Noodles on special occasions as an extra treat. 

German Baked Noodles ingredients
Makes 6 to 8 servings
1 (8-oz) pkg wide egg noodles
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup light cream or milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup seedless raisins or currants
2 (1-LB) cans applesauce
2/3 cup sugar
1 tsp lemon rind, grated
1 tsp cinnamon
Fine dry breadcrumbs


Cook noodles in salted water according to package directions until tender. Turn at once into a large bowl. Add eggs, cream, butter, raisins and mix well.

In another bowl, combine applesauce, sugar, lemon rind and cinnamon.

In a greased round baking dish, arrange noodles and applesauce mixtures in layers. Sprinkle the top with bread crumbs and dot with butter.

Bake in 375ºF oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until cooked.
