Judy's Pound Cake

I remember eating pound cake for the first time. It was a hot summer day, and the cake was the color of egg yolks (arguably more from food coloring than the four eggs in the recipe, but no less impressive). This is the first of my pound cake recipes, and it is from a neighbor and childhood friend's mother.

Judy's Pound Cake ingredients
Makes one bundt cake
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp soda
1 cup shortening
2-3/4 cups sugar
4 eggs
1-1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
Yellow food coloring

Notes:

Directions
In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together and beat until smooth.

Pour into a well-greased and lightly floured Bundt pan.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 70 minutes, or until golden yellow. Do not open oven until cake is done.
