Cincinnati 5-Way Chili | Slow-Cooker Quick Fixes

The Editors of Southern Living Magazine write, "This chili originated with Greek immigrants restaurateurs, who began to serve chili over spaghetti." The editors suggest serving this dish with oyster crackers and mixed salad greens.

Cincinnati 5-Way Chili ingredients
Makes 4 servings
1-1/2 LB ground sirloin
1 large onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 Tbsp chili powder
1-1/2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground red pepper
1 bay leaf
1 (6-oz) can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 Tbsp cider vinegar (I used Lemon-Dill Cider Vinegar)
1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 (12-oz) bottle German beer

For serving:
Hot cooked spaghetti
Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Diced onion
1 (15-oz) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained

Sun-Dried Tomato Baked Brie | Better Homes & Gardens magazine

Sun-Dried Tomatoes (aka Oozing Guts)
Baked Brie ingredients
Makes 20 appetizer servings
3/4 of a 7- to 8-oz jar oil-packed dried tomatoes
1/2 of a medium onion, sliced and separated into rings
4 tsps finely chopped garlic
1/4 cup slivered fresh basil leaves
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
2 (15-oz) rounds of Brie, with rind
1 Tbsp finely snipped fresh parsley or dried parsley, crushed
French bread slices cut 1/2-inch thick

Warm Olives

  • Warm Lemon-Rosemary Olives

Warm Lemon-Rosemary Olives ingredients
Makes 3 cups
3 cups mixed olives
2 fresh rosemary sprigs
1 tsp dried crushed red pepper
1 tsp lemon zest
1 tsp olive oil

For garnish: 
Rosemary sprig, 
Lemon rind strips

Warm Lemon-Rosemary Olives Directions
Preheat oven to 400°F.

Place first 4 ingredients (olives through lemon zest) on a large piece of aluminum foil; drizzle with oil.

Fold foil over olive mixture, and pinch edges to seal. Bake at 400°F for 30 minutes.

Garnish, if desired, and serve warm.

Snake Breadsticks ingredients
Makes 12 food garnishes
12 (12-inch x 1⁄4-inch) wooden dowels
2 (11-oz each) cans refrigerated breadstick dough
Green, orange and red food color sprays
White from 1 large egg, lightly beaten
Poppy seeds

For decoration:
24 whole cloves
2 or 3 large red gumdrops
Tomato soup (canned or homemade)

Notes: The food color sprays are available from Wilton and most crafts stores.
